DESCNA kan nu tilbyde det første foto-ID katalog over spækhuggere på Grønland. Kataloget indeholdet pt billeder af 15 forskellige individer og er et essentielt skridt mod en bedre forståelse og identifikation af de grønlandske spækhuggere.

The Greenland shark (Somniosus microcephalus) grows up to 7 m in length and is thereby one of the largest fish in the world. In spite of the size of the shark and the large distributional range, knowledge of this fish is very sparse.

The deep sea begins 200 meters beneath the water surface. At this depth the amount of sunlight is limited and can be compared with the light on an evening sky, hence it is called the twilight zone. Below depths of around one kilometer there is no sunlight left, and in this world of darkness, food is scarce.
