Cephalopods

Cephalopods

Cephalopods (Cuvier, 1797) are molluscan species of the class Cephalopoda. They are exclusively marine animals with bilateral body symmetry, a dominant head and several tentacles or arms. They have the ability to produce ink and are, thus, sometimes referred to as inkfish. Many species are further able to put on quite a light show and rapidly blend in with its surroundings.

There are around 800 living species of cephalopods and new species continues to be described.
