Popular names: Peregrine Falcon, peregrine
Danish name: Vandrefalk

Family: Falconidae (Falcons)

Observation sites: Davis strait

From time to time we are blessed with the sight of migrating falcons. At times they even exploit the possibility of a well deserved rest and can stay on and around the boat for several days. The species seen in Greenland belongs to the sub species Falco peregrines tundrius (C.M. White, 1968) living in the Arctic tundra of North America to Greenland, and migrates to wintering grounds in Central and South America.
